History

Martin Structural Engineers Limited is the culmination of Martin Redston Associates and Martin Cooper Associates. Each company has a wealth of knowledge and strong background of Structural Engineering Consultancy, particularly in the London area.

Martin Redston Associates was started by Martin Redston in the early 1990’s. Initially working as a sole trader Martin’s reputation quickly grew and he started to recruit employees and build the business. Sadly Martin passed away in February 2022 but, the company he started more than 30 years ago is still going strong today with several of his early employees still working for the company.

Redston Associates now provide consultancy to anyone with structural requirements in the London area. These include individuals, developers, builders, architects and others. They specialise in the small to medium size refurbishment market and have built a superb reputation in the sector.

Martin Cooper Associates has successfully been providing Structural Engineering advice, reports, drawings and calculations to clients since Martin Cooper started the practice in 1991. Martin graduated from Kingston University in 1979, cutting his teeth with the resident engineer overseeing the construction of the British Steel Blast Furnace at Redcar Steelworks, in the North East of England.

Since its inception Cooper Associates has grown to have an excellent reputation and providing a wide range of structural services. These include the design of blocks of flats, refurbishment of terraced Victorian houses and structural consultancy.

In 2025 Martin Redston Associates and Martin Cooper Associates merged together and formed Martin Structural Engineers Limited. The new company boasts a wealth of experience, technical ability and capacity. We have Chartered engineers from both the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) and the institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
